Research has shown Mother’s Day is the most popular holiday on which to dine out across the nation.

As if Palm Beach restaurants need to know that. Mother’s Day dining is a bonanza for them so accordingly, every restaurant in town that’s open this Sunday will feature special menu offerings and/or buffets (call your favorite restaurant for details).

Mother’s Day brunch is a perennial favorite, with buffets a big draw thanks to oftentimes lavish spreads—especially at Palm Beach’s resorts—with raw-bar fare, artisinal cheeses and charcuterie, salads, carving and omelet stations, signature dishes, and desserts galore.

This year’s brunch buffets range from one at The Colony’s Polo Steaks & Seafood ($65 adults, $30 children younger than 8 ) to one at Café Boulud ($68 adults, $36 children 10 and younger), where Chef Jim Leiken’s offerings will include turducken with foie gras and fresh herbs.

Among the bevy of other brunchtime offerings on Mother’s Day: 264 The Grill will feature an a la carte brunch menu: choose an entrée (French toast, omelets, steak-and-eggs “casino,” or quiche, to name a few) served with fresh fruit, browned potatoes and a choice of beverage (champagne, mimosa, bellini or juice) for $15.95 a person.

Café L’Europe is among the island’s restaurants focused on Mother’s Day dinner. The restaurant will open at 5 p.m. with a special a la carte menu.

Other Mother’s Day plans include Trevini’s all-day three-course menu, available 11 a.m.-9 p.m., for $39 a person.

Meanwhile, here’s how dining out stacks up nationally on Mother’s Day: More than one-quarter of Americans will celebrate the holiday by dining at a restaurant, according to new research by the National Restaurant Association.

Brunch may be one of the biggest draws in Palm Beach, but nationally, statistics indicate dinner is the most popular dining-out meal on Mother’s Day, followed by lunch, brunch and breakfast.

The National Restaurant Association also surveyed moms about which type of restaurant they’d like to be treated to on Mother’s Day: Steak, seafood and barbecue constituted the most popular category, followed by American cuisine, ethnic cuisine and buffets.
